Key Responsibilities
- Take doughs from mixing and kneading through dividing and moulding, exactly as recipes and schedules dictate
- Supervise proofing, oven temperatures and baking times with a careful eye
- Produce breads, rolls, buns and savoury items that are consistently high in quality and attractively presented
- Mentor apprentices and bakery assistants as they develop
- Uphold a clean, safe bakery through food safety and workplace safety procedures, and assist with stock control, ingredient ordering and waste reduction
- Collaborate with the bakery manager and team on daily production, and offer friendly customer service where required
Requirements & Eligibility
- A recognised trade qualification in baking
- A minimum of two years of relevant commercial baking experience
- Strong practical command of bread and yeast-based bakery production
- A commitment to product quality
- A commitment to food safety and cleanliness
- Good communication skills and a cooperative way of working
- Steady, efficient performance when production is at its busiest
- Willingness to work early mornings, weekends and public holidays as the roster requires
